~Happy New Year!~

Praise the Lord its almost 2008 here in Washington state! Just 2 1/2 hours to go! Just wanted to wish all my friends on here a Happy New Year!

I also have an update from the last post. My pain is GONE, the numbness is GONE and the shingles blisters that started in my gums are GONE! Now this doesn't just happen! It takes 3-4 weeks for this to happen and I believe that GOD has touched me!!!!!!! I was able to go to church tonight and the shingles has not come up on my face yet and the ones I did have in my mouth disappeared, which shocked me and my husband!

So GLORY BE TO GOD!!!!! I will keep you all posted, but for now its GONE!!!!!! PRAISALUJAH!!!!! =0

~Update on Me~

I don't really talk much about problems or issues I'm having on this blog but I figured I would explain why I haven't posted the past few days.

I started having a weird facial pain with numbness and electric-shock feeling stabs of pain. Upon calling the 24 hour nurse line, she was thinking I was having a stroke and told me I must call 911. I got really scared!! I started shaking and praying. The medics got there and they did all their diagnostic checks on me and called the ER doctor and the ER doctor said I should come in and go by ambulance, that he didn't recommend my husband taking me to the ER in case something happened on the way. I got really scared here!! =0

As I was on the ambulance my blood pressure shot up to 143/85 and if any of you know me, I have chronic LOW blood pressure that rests at 90/50 and sometimes 80/50 so to reach 143/85 was WOW for me!

After hours of being in the ER......found out I didn't have a stroke but I do have Occipital Neuralgia and Shingles in my face. They will be looking to find out what the Occipital Neuralgia is caused from and the Shingles well not much they can do there.

I've had Shingles before in 2000 in my back and it was excruciating pain, but let me tell you, it sure does hurt when it's in your face!!!! It lasted 3 months in 2000, but hopefully this time it will only be the average 3-4 weeks for me.

They put me on steroids......the very same one that made me gain 50 pounds in 3 months while on it in 2000!! I told the doctor that and he said he would only do 5 days worth and see how that goes. I'm like WHY do these meds make you gain weight and WHY do they always seem to be what I have to take?? LOL. Especially since I'm almost done with Week 2 on Weight Watcher's and lost 4.2 pounds. However I didn't let this sidetrack me, I'm still counting my points and following the plan as best I could with the circumstances.

It is all in God's hands and I'm praying and I'm sure you all will pray with me for God's healing and/or for my Doctor to find out what is causing the Occipitial Neuralgia along with tremors and nighttime seizure-like awakenings I have had for a few months now. Somewhere they will connect the dots and say " have ___."

Thanks and I wish everyone a Happy New Year and I'm not letting this get me down! I have goals I've set for 2008 and hopefully can blog about those tomorrow.

A New Year With The Lord

A New Year With The Lord
A new year is about to unfold
With new opportunities to explore
Doors will open for new experiences
New adventures with the Lord

Remember not the former things
The things of this past year
The Lord will do new things in us
Much more than we are aware

For He will make a way for us
As we put our trust in Him
And He will guide our every step
By His presence we have within

What God has placed within our hearts
We find we’ll be able to do
If we look for the opportunities
We’ll see the door to go through

We mustn’t let anything hold us back
But rise up and take our place
And be all that God wants us to be
With a fresh touch of His grace

~Merry CHRISTmas!~

Just wanted to wish all of my readers and dear friends a very Merry Christmas! I hope you all spend this Christmas really thanking God for the gift He gave us, His Son, Jesus. As my daughter has been saying "It's Jesus' birthday!" She also said we are having Jesus' birthday party tomorrow lol. So cute! She knows it ain't Santa and she understands what Christmas really is and I praise God for that. Don't lie to your kids! If you tell them there is a Santa, you are LYING! Same goes with the tooth fairy, etc. I don't understand why some so-called "Christians" think its "ok" to do that! It's a matter how pretty satan wants to sugar coat it.

Ok enough soapboxing........hehe. I'm off to fellowship with some dear friends tonight and then we are coming home to open gifts. Then tomorrow is our Christmas dinner and we invited some friends over to celebrate Christ's birth with us. Joy to the World........MY SAVIOR has come! I will rejoice forevermore for his mercy and loving kindness! Oh what a wonderful God we serve!!

Heaven's Gift

Rev. Terry preached a message last night about "The Gift of God". It was a wonderful message and at altar call I was covered in tears, which has been a while for me! As I looked up at the closing after praying, I saw many wet eyes and realized that others had also begun to think upon God's love and his gift of His Son to us! God did a lot for me in that service that words just can't express, but I found this poem this morning and it went right along with the message.

Heaven's Gift
by Sandra A. Popp

Heaven's gift has come to man.
Mortal fate rests
Within tiny hallowed hands.
Shepherds singing, a shining star,
Angels proclaiming,
Kings bearing gifts from afar.
A scene of serene glory,
The weight of a holy hush,
The meaning of heaven's story,
'Twas God's first CHRISTmas gift to us.

Who would recall the power of that day,
At the time when He was led away,
Bearing a crown, a robe, and fateful wounds?
Was He not the gift from heaven's womb?

Shall we turn from that holy day
And walk away unchanged?
Will we allow it to envelope our souls
Only to let it slowly slip away?

Through plastic, tinsel, parties and gifts,
Shopping, planning, and Christmas lights lit,
Can the simple gift be heard or seen,
Or does it quietly fade behind holiday sheen?

Let us not forget that He loves us so.
He loves us too much to let us go.
He sent a plan with His sacrifice
To forgive and cleanse and give us life.

Embrace the greatest gift of all;
Don't let your sense of the manger wane.
The gift of heaven is yours to receive.
It was the true reason He came.

~Christmas Dinner Menu~

I've been planning out my Christmas dinner menu for about a week now and still planning! I like to test the recipes first before I make them on Christmas Day, so that prolongs the process. I finally found an awesome Sweet Potato Casserole recipe! It is the BEST Sweet Potato Casserole that I've ever tasted (sorry Mom!). You can find it here.

  • Smoked Ham
  • Mac n' cheese
  • Cajun Fried Okra (this is a Christmas tradition in our home)
  • Sweet Potato Casserole
  • Croissants
  • Mashed Potatoes

  • Pumpkin pie
  • Coconut Creme pie
  • An assortment of cookies from frosted Christmas cookies to gingerbread men (me and my daughter do this together)
  • Fudge (chocolate with nuts fudge and peanut butter fudge)
  • Nordstrom Nordy Bars

Anyone else like to share some good Christmas recipes or their meal this year?

~Honey Muffins~

I had thought I posted this recipe here on my blog but looking back through my recipes, I see I didn't! This is a family favorite and they are gooooood and made with whole wheat! The recipe is from Crystal.

Honey Muffins
Serves 12
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 2 ¼ cups whole wheat pastry flour, freshly ground
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1 t baking soda
  • ½ t salt
In a medium bowl combine honey, orange juice, butter, eggs and vanilla. Mix this very well. In a smaller bowl combine dry ingredients and mix well. Put the dry mixture into the liquid and mix until just moistened. Fill muffin cups about 2/3rd’s full. Bake at 375 for 15 to 20 minutes or until nice and golden.

~It's OK if you say that!~

Here is another video clip of a Mike Huckabee on the campaign trail. After the roaring applause, Huckabee gets to the podium and the crowd shouts: "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" To which Huckabee replies: "You know what, it's OK if you say that!" To which he receives applause. Remember I shared his "What REALLY Matters" campaign commercial here, to which he was not ashamed to talk about CHRIST and say Merry Christmas! You go Huck! =0

Then I want to share Mike Huckabee's stance on Immigration and he is RIGHT in line with my views of it as well! Finally a President who will punish those that break the law and not give them a "pass" card.

~Weight Watcher's~

I have decided after seeing the scale go up since put a stop to this, so I figured paying for Weight Watcher's each month would be motivation to get the weight off! I also started a brand new blog to journal my progress:

~Attitude of Gratitude~

Pastor Davis preached a message last night on Thankfulness. He spoke on even thanking God when the doctor tells you something bad is wrong with you! You could have had it worse. He also spoke about an "Attitude of Gratitude". We should be thankful for ALL that God has done in our lives and for our spouses, children, parents and friends! Let us not be unthankful or take any of it for granted.

Author Unknown

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

~God Has Enabled Us~

(I wrote this in October 2006)

Many times in my Christian walk, God has let me know he wanted me to do something. Sometimes my response would be, "Oh I can not do that"......"I'm not capable to do something like that for you God." I soon learned that if God has called us to do something, that means he has enabled us to do it! Every time I stepped out on faith and trusted him, he has showed me YES I CAN!

Mark 10:27
".....with God all things are possible."

Phillipians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. "

It is so easy to come up with a list of why we are not capable, educated enough, (you fill in the blank), to do a task that God has given us. You take into account Moses......he told God he could not do what God wanted him to because he wasn't a good speaker. But we see reading on his life that he was more than able to accomplish God's will in his life. God had enabled him, despite himself!

So the next time satan comes by and tells you, that you can't do what God has called you to do or that you are not capable of this or that........Tell him "YES I CAN!"

"A Diamond is only a chunk of coal ...That made something good under pressure!"

"Every flower that ever bloomed
Had to go through
A whole lot of dirt to get there!"

"A word of encouragment during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success."

~Twas the Month Before CHRISTmas~

‘Twas the month before Christmas when all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.

Why the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a “Holiday “.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanza
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets are hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe’s the word Christmas - was no where to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate “Winter Break” under your “DreamTree”
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday !

~The Frugal Addict Updated~

I'm sorry that I have been delayed in my posting on my new financial blog, The Frugal Addict. However, I updated it tonight with a post and have a few more in the works for next week. I hope you enjoy the free advice and recommendations on ways we save money in our house!

Also you will notice below in the giveaway that I added a photo of the cute stockings that come with the gift cards. And to beat it all, the Starbuck's barista asked me if I would rather have a different holder for the "Holiday" gift card, in case I didn't celebrate that "word".......she couldn't even say it! So I told her "NO, I will take the CHRISTMAS one, thanks!" I said the word CHRISTMAS loudly and she had a smile on her face. I think they must tell them to NOT say the least it seemed like it.

I normally have a lot more text/written posts but I'm doing a lot of catch up since returning from my trip and that includes a lot of clips and photos.

I had to share this clip above.....I have always been irked by the Xmas word and even had some "Christian" friends who used it and they claimed it was to save time instead of writing out CHRISTmas. COME ON! How bout' rootin' for our side for a change.

I do not IN ANY WAY form or fashion support myspace which is where the video was hosted.

~A Time of Reflection~

Hello everyone! I've missed you all! I know that sounds silly but honestly, I missed my readers and missed writing on here and sharing things for the edification of others.

I had a deep time of reflection on this trip and it was wonderful as far as what God shown me. I would have to say that I'm stronger in God because of this trip. I can't even begin to tell all the things that God showed me and how far he has brought me from the girl I used to be before salvation when I lived back home. My family and relatives comment on how happy I always am and how come. I tell them it's God! How can I not be happy when God has done so much for me and changed me and my life and showed me the's joy unspeakable and if I didn't have something I could feel I would trade it in. ; )

I made a lot of choices in the trip that I'm going to be implementing now that I'm back home, from more writing to painting and clothing design. I used to design clothes and even had a fashion show in high school with students wearing my designs, but my mom would sew for me then and I have yet to learn! I have a machine and all the supplies, even its time to teach myself to sew, so that I can put all my designs to use again and this time, I'm going to wear them myself! =0

So the motto of this trip was "A Time of Reflection" and it also increased my beliefs and faith. I was able to witness to several people, relatives and even strangers and I felt the desire burn inside of the calling God placed on me and my husband's lives and I heard the souls cry out and the yearning begin again inside of me with a new fervor!

I'm going to have a Christmas Giveaway coming up in the next few be sure to check back for how to enter! I'm also going to upload HUNDREDS of photos and the video clip and then put the photos in a slideshow on here (not all just select ones) and then the video clip will be on here. I have a lot to do, so not sure if I will get it done tomorrow or Monday.

The thought I'm ending this post with today is this:
The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection. ~ Thomas Paine
