Update On Me

I had severe pain in my right side late Wednesday night and then woke up through the night feeling sick and what I thought was my old liver pain coming back.  I ended up with 5 hours of vomiting, fever and chills before I realized this was just not normal and not the flu - so a friend, that had come by to help me, called 911.  Thankfully, I got a room right away and tests done quickly, they also were able to stop my vomiting and gave me the strongest pain killer I've ever had but still didn't take the pain away completely.

It was my gallbladder.  However, I have NO gallstones - it is something called acalculous gallbladder, which is basically an inflamed gallbladder without gallstones usually found in very sick people. Well, I'm not a very sick person or at least I hope not!  I did have the miscarriage just a month ago almost to the day, so they did some tests about that too.  They sent me home with pain meds and anti-nausea meds and I've been in a lot of pain the past few days.  I will be seeing my doctor on Monday and seeing what tests he wants to do and the possibility of removing my gallbladder.

I've thought I've had gallstones for a few years actually, I would get a pain in my side after eating junk food, and would take apple cider vinegar and it would help and I would go on and be ok.  However, this time, it was pretty extreme and the vomiting was the worst in my life, I'm still sore in my ribs and it has almost been 3 days since!  I was surprised that I have no gallstones, it just doesn't make sense to me and all that I've read on this talks about trauma like a car accident injuring the gallbladder, seriously ill people or injury after a major surgery.

I honestly thought a lot of my health issues had ended because my last c-section showed the problems inside my body and they fixed it all.  I'm not sure what caused my miscarriage and then this gallbladder issue but praying my doctor is able to get to the bottom of it and hopefully spare my organ!

God knows and He is there.......He has brought me through so much and everything is going to be ok!

Hi. I just had an attack myself and had my gallbladder removed a week ago. I had Gallstones. But they weren't worried about them. They said I had an abnormality with my gallbladder. I have had severe miscarriages. Actually six. They said my gallbladder could have caused issues with my pregnancies. I will be praying for you.

I'm sorry to hear that Alyssa, thank you for sharing your story, I wonder if my gallbladder is what caused mine, something to ask the doctor on Monday!

Thank you tealady! Both of my sisters had gallbladder attacks that sent them to the hospital and had theirs removed but they had gallstones. I hope they figure me out soon! ;-)

Hello Beverly, I too just had my gallbladder removed on March 10 2014. I did not have any gallstones either but woke up last month with severe pain and vomiting. Which I had been having some pains now about a two year spanned but that one last month was different. I was placed on pain meds and sent home. I had a follow up appointment with my dr who did blood work and sent me to get an MRI done. Well the MRI show trouble in my gallbladder which my pain was always late night and after I ate greasy foods or dairy. It always started at the very top of my stomach under my right rib age. So when I went back to the dr to get MRI and lab result my blood work said my liver eneyzemes were up and the MRI show something wrong with my gallbladder. The dr then sent me to get and ultrasound of the gallbladder and it showed that I had sludge inside the gallbladder and thickening of the gallbladder wall. He sent me to a surgeon to look at my gallbladder. Which he wanted to remove it so my husband and I went and got a second opinion from another surgeon and he also agreed, but we still waited and tried a herbal cleanse which still did not work so I got it removed. I feel so much better now it's been 4 weeks post op. Glad I got it done.

Hi Bev, I am a Naturopath and just wanted to add my 2cents! Almost everyone has liver and gallstones by the time they are an adult. We can have them all our life with no issues or we can have issues even in our twenties, it depends on hereditary, lifestyle etc. People that have many stones in the gallbladder also have them in the liver as these organs go hand n hand working together. Sometimes people have all the symptoms of gallstones and yet they cant be found on tests. There are a couple of reasons, it could be your liver playing up and causing those symptoms or it could be that when you have your test the stones are hidden. (This is very common). I could write a heap more about this but i suggest you research the liver/gallbladder flush. It could save your gallbladder and dramatically improve your overall health. Keep in mind that natural medicine and Orthodox med have a very different view on the body. As some of the ladies above wrote, sometimes it is an emergency and you need to get it removed! If you want to ask me any questions you can email me at info@genesisnaturalhealth.com.au

Also just wanted to add that over the years i have seen so many patients, as well as my mother who have had their gallbladder removed but later have the same pain and symptoms return. Again that is due to the liver taking over the load having to work even harder and then developing more stones. Once that happens their is not much medically they can do to help the liver. So that is why i encourage people to try and keep their gallbladder if they can. We need it!

Thank you so much Megan! I have thought of going to a naturopath actually because I have a friend who her and her husband know a lot about natural/holistic things and she helps me with some things. I've always suspected it is my liver as I've had liver disease in the past and then almost liver failure in 2009. I'm definitely not just going to let them take my organ unless it is emergency type situation. I've been researching and learning a lot the past few days - I go for a hydroscan tomorrow. Thanks again Megan!!

Hi Ms. Bev
I had the same issue with my gallbladder last fall. No stones and so fourth. The pain was worse than labour! It felt like one big 5hour contraction :( Not only did fatty meals can cause an issue with me. If I eat too big of a salad, it is hard on my gallbladder due to all the food my digestive system has to work through. Right now I on a fast-fast-feast diet, which seems to be working pretty well. Like you, before my gallbladder went kaput for no reason we also encountered a painful miscarrage.

Anonymous - sorry to hear that you had that and a miscarriage too. I've been doing a very low fat diet of less than 15 grams a day and it was working but I'm back in pain again and opted to do the surgery.

Hi Bev,
I too had gallbladder issues. No gallstones just inflamed and sludge etc. I had it removed along with other organs and such. Good thing is you will feel better once it is removed. It has been 14 months since I had it removed and I have had no pain on that side. It was worth it being removed. God bless you and help you during this time.

Hi Donna! I'm sorry to hear you had to go through this too but glad you are feeling better.

I had appendicitis Tuesday and so they ended up doing 2 surgeries - taking out my appendix and gallbladder! I then had a reaction to the anesthesia and it was bad and they had to hospitalize me and I've been in here for 2 days, hoping and praying I get better and get to go home tomorrow.

Hi Bev,
Glad that your surgery is done and over. My appendix was one of the other organs that was removed during my surgery as well. Hope and pray that you have a quick recovery. Take it easy and slow. You will feel much better soon. God Bless You!
