One of our favorite comfort food meals is biscuits and gravy with sausage!
I have been using this whole wheat biscuit recipe for a few years but I make 12 medium-sized biscuits instead of 8 large ones. I use about 2 1/2 cups of freshly milled flour that has been sifted for this and everything else in the recipe stays the same.
I prefer using chicken breakfast sausages from Whole Foods or turkey sausage when I can find it!Whole Wheat Flour Gravy

Makes 2 cups of gravy
1/4 cup unsalted butter
6T whole wheat flour
1/2t salt
1/2t pepper
1/4t garlic powder
2 cups milk
Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add in the flour and seasonings and whisk for a minute and gradually add in the milk; whisk often until the consistency of gravy is accomplished that you prefer.
*I will make the biscuits first and once they go in the oven, I heat the sausages and make and the gravy.
