We had been spending $650 a month last year but since grocery costs have risen (and we also made the move to even more organic) we have increased our budget to $800 a month. This includes our monthly grocery trip, weekly deliveries and our stock-up budget.
My husband gets paid bi-weekly, so we consider a "month" a 4-week period for budget purposes and this includes the grocery budget. I take the $800 for every 4-week period and plan it as follows:
I get most of our stock-up items from Azure Standard - things like wheat berries, oats, rice, beans, oil, dish soap, nuts, popcorn, PB, cheese, etc. I aim to spend $1950 a year from Azure, which is $150 for each 4-week month. I may stock-up on some things from stores like canned meat but most comes from Azure.
I grocery shop once a month at 3 stores and then we have the other 3 weeks delivered and I have included the $25 cost for that (fee + tips). The weekly deliveries are bread, salad mix, apples, any other produce we need and eggs if needed. The stores I shop at are Whole Foods, Kroger and Aldi.
Our total costs for our family of 3 adults and a teenage boy is $10,400 a year. It's not easy to do in 2026 but we manage on organic and high quality food.
